Week 7 - Merry Christmas

Christmas is tomorrow, so I'll do the update a bit early this week. Speeding up the calls felt good, but there's one specific type of call I'm still torn on.

I am not content with how my last dama analysis showed riichi having overall higher winrates than dama, while people still say to dama mangans. Why would I dama a mangan if it lowers my winrate? So, I'm trying again, looking at things a different way.

Week 3 - Graduation

Another week down, the last week of pure preparation. I decided to do a daily journal thing this time.

Week 2 - Awakening

I was on vacation from work this week, so I had a lot of free time. I ended up watching a lot of Mahjong videos on YouTube.

Among those, I watched several videos from the guy who played with Northernlion, yu_song. After having watched ないおトン so much, going to watching a middling player was quite interesting. The difference in play was immediately obvious. And as my goal is above yu_song's level, knowing where those differences lie is valuable. Watching critically with the mentality of, "I must surpass this person."

Analysis - Taatsu Otoshi

While reading zeRo's book, I came across a chapter talking about taatsu otoshi (when people drop a two tile shape from their hand) and how it indicates the speed of their hand.

Week 1 - From the Ashes

Hello hello. Long time no see.

In the time I've been gone, I've done a few things. I've learned Japanese, to a comfortable level at least. I've published a bunch of yuri stories on Wattpad. I've made an extensive guide for Uma Musume, which had a resurgence recently thanks to the global release. I got a pet snake, and geckos. I played a whole lot of Raid: Shadow Legends, unironically. The recent guaranteed summon event gave me the last unit I needed for Mikage, pretty stoked about that.

Anyway, I've been getting back into Mahjong recently. Why, you might ask? Because I saw Northernlion play it, and he was so bad at it that it made me want to get good again out of spite. This happens a lot, where I see him play a game and then have to buy it to play it properly.
